A Knitted Lace Wire Sampler
with Janine Whale

In this workshop Janine will work you through her process for lace knitting with fine wire. Beginning with a review of materials, introduction to the properties of wire and its implications for knitting and and an awareness of posture, you will then learn how to read the pattern chart and cast on.

Once you have knitted the first rows; learning how to increase stitches on the margins, turn and knit backwards to avoid bias, you will begin to experiment with lace stitches as you work through your sampler.

Along the way Janine will share tips and tricks such as what to do if the wire breaks and how to graft your work onto a frame as well as introducing some more advanced techniques such as provisional cast-ons and knitting inside a wire frame.
